Art Highlight: Experiments
Share
As I prepared for my first booth experience, I wanted to have some smaller art pieces that were a bit larger than the desktop art but at just as an affordable price. I know what it's like to want arty decor but either don't have the space available for a larger piece or don't have the budget.
When I was in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, recently, I had neither budget nor space to purchase any larger piece, no matter how much I was tempted across the various galleries I visited. But one artist had a neat idea that I have chosen to emulate. Karola Stienbracher had smaller scraps available for purchase. Perhaps they were test cases abandoned, or extraneous bits of a larger piece that was cut away, or prototypes of larger or commissioned pieces, or maybe just the artist's equivalent of experimental doodling. These could be easily framed in whatever portrait-style frame you might have around, and they were dual-sided, so you could flip the piece at any point and give your decor a different look or vibe. Best of all, they were priced right for me to both support the artist and the gallery as well as take home a versatile and unique piece of art.
I absolutely fell in love with this idea and it was perfect for me to incorporate into my booth prep for a more entry-level art collecting experience for casual browsers and those who loved my work but couldn't managed a larger original. Thus my new series Experiments was born.
I will be grouping these items by the month of their completion; not to say this will be a monthly process necessarily, but they will be a semi-regular thing. I'll bundle them by size as well, ranging from extra small (e.g. 3in x 5in), small (e.g. 4in x 6in), medium (e.g. 5in x 7in), and large (e.g. 8in x 10in). Within each listing, there will be variants to choose from by picture showing representative details of both sides of a piece. Like my Holiday Ornaments, the item you receive is all but guaranteed to be at least slightly different from the picture shown.
I hope you enjoy these unique and approachable, smaller and versatile pieces of art as much as I enjoy making them!
